Smartcards
Smartcards are secure ID cards that store encrypted access keys on a device similar to a credit card but with a microprocessor embedded with digital technology. Smartcards are an enhancement to PKIs, moving the encryption policies from the laptop or computer onto the smartcard itself. Smartcards work with smartcard readers attached to the laptop/PC in order to be accessed.
Inflexis Identity Solutions (Biometric Encryption Security Systems) go beyond the technology used on Smartcards, using encryption and algorithm methods far more advanced and superior to that of legacy PKI encryption methods used in Smartcards. Data is also stored on the Inflexis MobileID device locally, as opposed to data stored on a local hard drive. A smartcard falls short of providing high level encryption, security, and portability into one solution such as the Inflexis MobileID.
